The Secret Old Banyan Tree
In the middle of a quiet village stood an enormous old banyan tree. Its roots hung like ropes, and its branches spread so wide that it looked like a green umbrella.
Children loved to play under it during the day, but everyone said that at night, the tree whispered secrets. Most villagers thought it was just the wind… except for Anya, a curious twelve-year-old.
One summer evening, Anya decided to stay near the tree after sunset. She hid behind its thick roots and waited. When the moon rose, she heard a soft voice:
"If you are brave and kind, I will share my treasure."
Surprised, Anya asked, “Who are you?”
The voice replied, “I am the spirit of the banyan tree. I have been here for hundreds of years, protecting this village. My treasure is not gold, but wisdom.”
A breeze swirled, and glowing fireflies danced around her. The spirit whispered stories of the village’s history, how the land was once saved from drought when people worked together, and how kindness had always been the village’s greatest strength.
The next day, Anya shared the stories with everyone. From that day on, the banyan tree became a place where people gathered to talk, laugh, and solve problems together.
And whenever the wind rustled its leaves at night, Anya knew the old banyan tree was still watching over them, guarding its most precious treasure—unity and kindness.
