Procedure

1. Warm-up (5–7 minutes)

Objective: Oral to written link.

  • Greet: "Good morning, young writers! नमस्कार! आज हम English में छोटी कहानी/paragraph लिखेंगे।"
  • Brainstorm in Hindi: Show picture (e.g., family). "परिवार में कौन-कौन? क्या करते हैं? (Who in family? What do they do?)" Students share ideas in Hindi → Teacher models English sentences on board: "My family is big. I have mummy, daddy, and sister."
  • Fun: "Thumbs up for capital M in My!"
2. Introduction to Paragraph Writing (10 minutes)

Objective: Structure rules bilingually.

  • Explain: "Paragraph मतलब 4–5 sentences एक topic पर। Start capital, end full stop, spaces between words." Hindi: "एक विषय पर जुड़े वाक्य। बड़ा अक्षर शुरू, . अंत में।"
  • Model short paragraph on board: Topic: My Pet My pet is a dog. Its name is Tommy. It is brown and playful. I like to play with Tommy.
  • Choral: Read together, point to capital/full stop.
3. Main Activity 1: Guided Paragraph Writing (15 minutes)

Objective: Practise with support.

  • Choose topic (picture prompt, e.g., My School).
    • Brainstorm in Hindi: "स्कूल में क्या पसंद? दोस्त? खेल? (What like in school? Friends? Games?)"
    • Teacher models 2 sentences → Children add 2–3 more.
  • Write in notebook: Teacher circulates, helps spelling/Hindi prompts for ideas.
  • Focus: "Neat letters, join where possible, spaces!"
4. Main Activity 2: Handwriting and Editing Fun (10 minutes)

Objective: Neatness and self-check.

  • Pair check: "Read friend's paragraph. Check capital, full stop, spaces."
  • Neat practice: Rewrite one sentence beautifully.
  • Fun: Colour a "Writer Star" border.
5. Sharing and Feedback (5 minutes)

Objective: Confidence boost.

  • 3–4 volunteers read paragraph aloud.
  • Class clap: "Good capital!" / "Neat writing!"
6. Conclusion and Wrap-up (5 minutes)
  • Recap: "Paragraph needs...?" (Ideas in Hindi, sentences in English.)

Assessment
